There are many different styles of face painting, but the two main categories are "full face" and "cheek art."
"Full face" face painting
is just what it says...the artist uses the entire face as a canvas for their design. The whole face may not be painted, but usually
at least half of the face is accented with paint. Designs are often animals, superheroes, or scenic designs. When the proper professional
face paints are used (see the "Safety" section), it is safe to paint the entire face, and the paints are easily removed with soap,
water, and a washcloth.
"Cheek art" is small designs often painted on just a cheek. They can also be painted on hands, arms, legs,
and other exposed body parts.
